A Coder's Christmas Gift
Hey there! As Christmas time is coming around, I thought why not present you the Christmas gift project I did for my girlfriend two years ago.
For quite a long time I thought why not using my coding skills to create a present for my girlfriend. Two weeks before Christmas I then had the idea of “Picture of the Day” during taking a shower. Personalized calendars are often a popular gift for Christmas as the new year will start very soon. Most often it’s out of paper and there’s a new picture for every month. My idea was the following: why not creating a digital calendar for my girlfriend’s laptop which shows a unique picture of us every day for the upcoming year.
As two weeks before Christmas there has already been enough stress, it was quite a hurry for me to finish it on time. Even though this was not good for the quality of my code, I was pretty satisfied with the result. My girlfriend received a QR code containing a download link for the installer of “Picture of the Day”. The installer would automatically make the application launch on startup so the current “Picture of the Day” will be shown directly.
Maybe this project can inspire you to create your own coded Christmas gift. You can also get “Picture of the Day” for yourself from my Github. Have a look at my project page to get more details about how to adapt “Picture of the Day” to your requirements.
Enough for now, have a relaxed pre-Christmas time and we’ll hear each other soon!
